Xunantunich Ruins.  The ruin beginning with X that is really hard at first to pronounce!  These fascinating ruins a short bus ride away and cost just 10BZ to enter.  If you're lucky you will spot howler monkeys too!  Don't miss the museum at the site for more information on the ruins.

Iguana Sanctuary.  The San Ignacio Resort Hotel on Western Highway has an iguana sanctuary that is also very nice to visit.  It is walking distance from the hostel; up the hill by the police station.

Cahal Pech Ruins.  San Ignacio was built around these Maya ruins, and they are walking distance from the hostel so perfect to visit without a guide!  These ruins are different to the others as they are in a maze formation, unlike the usual pyramid style.  Close by is a hotel will awesome views, and a swimming pool too - this is also a great place to watch the sunset.

Canoeing on the river.  Most tour companies in tour will rent you a canoe for 60BZ a day BUT we can show you where to hire one for half the price!  Paddle up river to the Chaa Creek Resort where you can visit the botanic gardens, medicinal gardens and butterfly farm.

Swim in the river.  The river is a great place to cool off on a hot day!  Take a picnic and a few beers and we'll show you the prettiest spots where to locals go to take a dip.

Caracol Ruins Mountain Pine Ridge Forest Reserve.  A tour to Caracol (the largest ruins in Belize) will cost you $85-95USD, and usually includes a stop at Big Rock Falls & Rio Frio Cave.  However, you can also rent a car and do this trip on your own for much cheaper if you team up with other guests and share a car.  Ask us for directions and where to stop off and see beautiful waterfalls, caves and pools in this incredible natural reserve.
